served as military escort to the supply train that fed the starving soldiers at Valley Forge. He performed this hazardous duty with such success that he received the thanks of Washington. He was born in Londonderry, Ireland, located in Kent Co., Md., about 1740, and his estate Fairfields is still in the family.
