"Dot" Diehl of Waukesha passed away Monday, June 10, 2002, at LindenGrove Nursing Home at age 95. She was born Dorothy N. Pattee on Dec. 27, 1906, in Beloit. She was the daughter of Earl and Emma (nee Carlson) Pattee. Dorothy attended high school in Delavan and Whitewater. She continued her studies at what is now the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and earned a teaching degree. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority. She moved to Waukesha in 1927 and taught at Barstow Elementary School for 36 years. She finished her teaching career nine years later at Whittier Elementary School, totaling 45 years of service in the Waukesha School District. On April 12, 1952, Dorothy married another dedicated teacher, George Diehl. They lived in Waukesha at their home on McCall Street until building a home on Roberta Avenue. They moved to Oak Hill Village in 1986. They were married for 35 years. George passed away July 2, 1987. Dorothy was a former member of the Waukesha Women’s Club, a longtime member of the Ina J. Reid Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Evangelical & Reformed United Church of Christ in Waukesha. Family and friends will sadly miss Dorothy.
