  According to Dorothy Weiser Seale's Mat(t)hias Milestones, Raymond served stateside in the Army Air Force during World War I and was a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving in the Pacific. While stationed at Miramar Naval Air Station near San Diego, California, Raymond was killed in a plane crash.
