In the 1870 Hillsdale County, Michigan Census, Benjamin and Julia Ann and their children reside in Woodbridge Twp. next door to Julia Ann's brother, Henry, and his family. Benjamin is a farmer. Benjamin was a veteran of the Union soldiers of the Civil War, evidenced by the Pension Application that Julia Ann filed as his widow and by the Civil War Marker at his gravesite. Benjamin served in Company G, the 21st Ohio Volunteer Infantry and enlisted 26 April 1861. In the 1900 Williams County, Ohio Census, Benjamin is employed as a minister.
