  [S16144775017] Fort Wayne Daily Sentinel, 26 Mar 1909. Mrs Margaret (Keefer) Engle, widow of John Engle, aged 88 years, died. She was one of the pioneer residents of Allen County Mrs. Engle delighted her children and grandchildren with stories of the pioneer days and frequently told of having assisted in keeping up fires at night to frighten the beasts of the forest away from the stock and from their pioneer home. She was a resident of Wayne township 70 years. They were charter members of Saint John's Lutheran Church and are buried in St John's "German" Lutheran cemetery on Engle Rd. [S8072068432] 1860 United States Census.
