Mary Vaughan evidently died in 1707 as some years ago a gravestone was washed up on the beach at Ellendale on Eastern Neck which reads as follows: "Here lies the body of Mary Ringgold with her two babes. She was the second wife of James Ringgold. She died in the Year of Our Lord December 11, 1707. James Ringgold, her son, dedicated this stone."
